Personal Narrative- Christmas Cookies Although I have grown up to be entirely inept at the art of cooking, as to make even the most wretched chef ridicule my sad baking attempts, my childhood would have indicated otherwise; I was always on the countertop next to my mother’s cooking bowl, adding and mixing ingredients that would doubtlessly create a delicious food. When I was younger, cooking came intrinsically with the holiday season, which made that time of year the prime occasion for me to unite with ounces and ounces of satin dark chocolate, various other messy and gooey ingredients, numerous cooking utensils, and the assistance of my mother to cook what would soon be an edible masterpiece. The most memorable of the holiday works of†¦show more content†¦After my face unclamped from that scrunched-up expression that comes inevitably after eating any food that is either too sour or too bitter, the intelligent child I was found that once the chocolate is mixed with two cups of sugar, the bitterness is all eviated into an addicting batter, which makes one smile instead of cringe. Once my mother finished with the â€Å"I told you so’s† concerning the unsweetened chocolate, I was able to mold the dough into cookies and roll it through a flurry of powdered sugar. This was probably my favorite part, because I could get creative with the shapes of the cookies, snowmen being my favorite. While making my snowmen, I came upon a dilemma; I thought about making a Santa Claus figurine out of my dough, but my mother was Jewish, so I wasn’t quite sure what man comes down the chimney on Hanukah. My father, being Catholic, had always talked about a plump guy with a rosy face that wriggled down the chimney at Christmas, but nobody had ever mentioned anything about chimneys and Hanukah.
